The Eagle Huntress
October’s film from Chorleywood Film Club is The Eagle Huntress (Certificate U, 89 mins).
This documentary-style tale about a young girl’s drive to succeed in a male world steeped in tradition is terrific.
It is being screened on Friday 18th October at The War Memorial Hall on Common Road in Chorleywood. Doors and bar will open at 7.30pm. The film starts at 8 pm.
The Eagle Huntress
This extraordinary true story centres around Aisholpan, a thirteen-year-old nomad girl. She wants to become the first female in her Kazakh family for twelve generations to become an eagle hunter.
The Kazakhs have hunted with golden eagles for over a thousand years and this tradition is handed down from generation to generation, from father to son. Aisholpan believes that she can do anything that boys can and she would like to become an eagle hunter in her own right.
Set against the stunning expanse of the Mongolian steppe, The Eagle Huntress features awe-inspiring cinematography and tells an epic tale. Woven within it is the modern narrative of challenging the norm so a young girl can achieve where traditionally she would not have been allowed to.
This film is directed by Otto Bell and narrated by Daisy Ridley (well known as Rey in Star Wars). Uplifting and inspirational and helped along with English subtitles, this is a film for all the family to enjoy.
“One of the most beautifully shot movies I have ever seen”
