British Airways’ Corporate Safety and Security team have been assessing the risk associated with the carriage of hover boards including Air Wheels and Solo Wheels within baggage following a number of adverse press reports.
Unfortunately the negative reports of the poor quality of most of these items plus the potential fire risk arising from their batteries, has meant that at this time British Airways has placed a ban on them. This means that customers are not allowed to travel with them in either their hand or checked baggage on British Airways aircraft until further notice.
Hover boards are recreational devices, not an essential travel item and are not defined as a mobility aid.
