Visit the USA

Home to a diversity of scenery and culture like no other country, the great American experience can be so many things.

Visit iconic cities such as LA, Miami, Boston and New York City. Ride across rolling plains under the big open skies of the vast counties of Wyoming and Montana. Visit spectacular National Parks, Yellowstone and the Grand Canyon to name but two. Explore beautiful beaches, wonderful coastlines, verdant vineyards and sultry swamp lands.

A smorgasbord of cultures, cuisines, music and entertainment which range and differ as you travel across this vast country, the USA is a varied and colourful travel destination.

Where to start?

There is so much to and to see. And a holiday to the USA could vary hugely, depending on where you choose to visit. Indeed, the USA is the perfect destination for a multi-centre holiday, where you move from base to base in the course of your break. For example, you could start in New York City and then travel north to Boston and onto New England, visiting iconic Cape Cod. Or fly to Florida and mix the legendary Disney experience in Orlando with a trip down to the Everglades, one of America’s great natural treasures.

The western side of the USA is home to California, home to a series of iconic landmarks – the Golden Gate Bridge, Rodeo Drive, the Napa Valley to name but a few. Explore San Francisco, head down to Carmel or drive along the stunning west coast to San Diego where you can soak up its Spanish influences.

In contrast, the glitz of Las Vegas could throw you into sensory overload! Larger than life, this 24 hour city is opulent, colourful and exciting. Carrier describes it as being  the epitome of full-one America.

Heading north, there are the deserts and open spaces of Arizona, home to the Grand Canyon the setting for many a traditional western. Arizona, Nevada and Utah are redolent with American Indian influences. Wyoming’s wide open grasslands are a cool, calm contrast and home to the National Parks of Yellowstone and Grand Teton. Montana’s vast grasslands are home to cattle, elk, antelope and black bear; this is a great location for a ranching holiday with many luxury destinations to choose between.

New York, New York

Maybe you would prefer a city-based holiday? With so many iconic metropolises to choose from, an American city break could be just the ticket.

New York is unique and exhilarating with such a diverse range of things to do. Broadway, Greenwich Village, Chinatown, Central Park, the Empire State and Chrysler Building, Fifth Avenue, Macy’s, the Guggenheim. We could go on and on.

Chicago, perched on the shore s of Lake Michigan is a wonderful blend of American spirit and cosmopolitan charm. Its iconic skyline is best viewed on a river cruise and the music scene is top-notch.

Washington DC is a timelessly grand city. Home to the statuesque White House and Capitol Hill, the Smithsonian and Georgetown’s historic waterfront. There’s plenty to do in Washington DC – great food, outdoor sports, museums and plenty of outdoor space. Three contrasting cities, each with their own charm and appeal.

In addition to its diverse destinations, the USA is also a big foodie nation. And as you travel across this vast continent, cuisines vary from state to state. Here’s a little taste: Texan barbecue ribs. Fusion cookery on the west coast combining fresh produce with Asian influences. New York bagels are legendary; as are pancakes, grits and fried eggs in traditional 1950s-style diners. Maine fresh lobster, Californian fresh lobsters and champagne make for memorable holiday dining. Finally, the list would not be complete without steak, the bigger the better.
