Travel consultant Bob Mortimore travelled to Barbados in November 2014 on a Barbados Travel Educational with Elegant Resorts. He had a superb time and was pleasantly impressed with Barbados’ progress since his last visit to this tropical island 16 years previously.
During his stay, Bob visited The Colony Club, The House, Tamarind, Coral Reef Club Hotel, The Sandpiper, Treasure Beach Hotel and Spa, The Fairmont Royal Pavillion, Cobblers Cove Hotel and Sandy Lane Hotel. Here’s his account of his visit to The House:
Located on the West Coast of Barbados, on its own beach, The House Barbados is a chic, adults only boutique-style hotel with just 34 junior and one-bedroom suites.
Recently refurbished, all the suites have newly designed French doors, new seating areas and tailored wooden furniture. The bathrooms have unique rain showers with state of the art body jets, new granite surfaces and make-up mirrors. On arrival, you can enjoy a complimentary jet-lag revival massage. Added benefits for guests booking a one-bedroom suite include a VIP meet-and-greet service at the airport, private car transfers, upgraded bathroom amenities, an extended one hour jet lag massage and super coffee machines.
Complimentary Champagne breakfast, afternoon tea and evening canapés are available every day. All day dining is recommended at the highly rated Daphne’s Restaurant which is on site.
The House Barbados has a beachfront deck with swimming pool and jacuzzi. Complimentary water sports are available at the Aqua School and guests can also make full use of fitness centres and spas at the nearby sister hotels of the Colony Club and Tamarind, (all part of the Elegant Hotels Group). The House Barbados will also arrange many activities, including daily island excursions and golf at the Apes Hill Golf Course with preferred tee off times.
With its superb sandy beach, The House Barbados offers a complimentary beach service which includes fruit, Evian water spritzers and cool towels; there are also massage and drinks services. The House is also the first hotel on Barbados to offer 24 hour Service Ambassadors to cater for every whim.
An elegant and sophisticated property, The House Barbados maintains an informal, comfortable feel in a hideaway atmosphere of chic surroundings and design. This Barbadian adults-only tropical beachfront hotel has a uniqueness all of its own.
