A next generation of expedition travel
Hurtigruten is set to launch two new sister hybrid ships, the MS Roald Amundsen and the MS Fridtjof Nansen, in 2019.
These state-of-the-art, battery-powered hybrid ships have been designed to sail into pristine polar waters. They promise to be some of the safest, greenest and quietest expedition ships in the world. Features include outside-facing cabins (some with private balconies). An infinity pool. A high tech interactive Science Centre. Blueye underwater drones and much more.
The ships’ names acknowledge two of the greatest heroes in Polar history, Roald Amundsen and Fridtjof Nansen. And travel aboard will combine state-of-the art technology and a premium experience with 125 years of knowledge and amazing destinations.
“With the great explorers deeply rooted in our history and heritage, Hurtigruten aims to be one step ahead when exploring the world. Our new ships will be moving boundaries for the technology, for the industry and for our guests” – Hurtigruten CEO Daniel Skjeldam.
