Journey’s End – this month’s screening from Chorleywood Film Club
Make a date in the diary for the November screening from Chorleywood Film Club. This month’s choice is the excellent new film version of R.C. Sherriff’s, Journey’s End (Cert 12). It’s part of the village’s World War One Remembrance weekend programme and as such, a very timely choice. And Ultimate Destinations is delighted to be sponsoring the film club’s 2018/19 season – we love a good film!
Set in the trenches of Northern France in March 1918, this powerful and passionate drama takes place over four days. During this time, a group of British infantry officers and their men await the German Army’s imminent Spring Offensive. The officers and their cook use food and the memories of their lives before the war to distract themselves. Each man is trapped. And the days are ticking by, tension is rising and the attack drawing ever closer…
Adapted by Simon Reade, directed by Saul Dibb. Journey’s End stars Sam Claflin, Paul Bettany, Asa Butterfield, Stephen Graham and Toby Jones.
“…expertly cast and really well acted: forthright, powerful, heartfelt.
-Peter Bradshaw, The Guardian
