Our well-travelled travel consultant, Bob Mortimore recently visited the Caribbean islands of St Lucia and Mustique courtesy of Elegant Resorts. During his trip, he visited a series of beautiful hotels including Jade Mountain. Here are his travel notes from his visit. This is the fourth of a series of blog posts which detail Bob’s trip around the two islands.
About Jade Mountain, St Lucia
Jade Mountain perches majestically on a St Lucian hillside, in six hundred lush, tropical acres. It overlooks the grand beaches of established sister resort, Anse Chastanet.
This unique property has been boldly designed; very different in style to other Caribbean hotels, its’ accommodation and other parts of the resort are linked by a network of walkways and bridges. With spectacular views of the Piton Mountains, Jade Mountain is a private and very peaceful resort.
Accommodation
There are four different types of suite-based infinity pool rooms called Sanctuaries (Sky Suites, Star Infinity, Sun Infinity and Galaxy Infinity Pool Sanctuaries). The rooms deliver total peace and quiet. No television, radio or telephone are provided in these rooms and guests are encouraged not to use their mobile phones in public. Rooms have been artistically and uniquely designed to provide complete comfort and privacy. Their design cleverly lacks a 4th wall, which gives guests a wonderful view of the ocean and most rooms have dynamic infinity pools; those that do not (Sky Suites) have jacuzzis.
All suites have king size beds and include fridge, tea and coffee maker, hair dryer and ironing facilities (which can be done for you). Each has an electronic call button which you can use to contact the service team at any time.
And in addition to the above there are also lovely premium rooms located on the upper hillside, all offering very good views.
Fine Dining
Dining at the Jade Mountain Club is a culinary experience. Its’ chefs have won many awards. The restaurant is located around an colourful infinity pool and offers a is varied and seasonal menu with exotic touches of fusion and local Caribbean influences. This fine restaurant is exclusive to residents and offers breakfast, lunches and dinners. Above the Jade Mountain Club is the Celestial Terrace bar which offers cocktails and a wide choice of drinks; together with the breath taking panoramic views, it is an ideal location for pre and after dinner beverages. You can also dine in your own Sanctuary – a popular with guests who prefer private dining.
Soak up signature treatments (massage and facials) at Jade Mountain’s boutique spa, Kai en Ciel. Guests are also encouraged to use the beachfront spa of their sister resort Anse Chastanet. Enjoy beach activities, along with diving, snorkelling, mountain biking and hiking or just relax on the warm sands.
Jade Mountain even has an organic farm (Emerald Farm) which supplies its restaurants with some of their ingredients and makes its own branded chocolate from locally grown cocoa beans in its Chocolate Lab.
Jade Mountain offers an idyllic dose of pure Caribbean luxury. Set in its own lush, tropical surroundings, with beautiful panoramic views and a back drop of the Piton Mountains, it is the perfect place to escape to.
