Chorleywood Film Club’s January screening is The Breadwinner, an uplifting family drama. It takes place at The War Memorial Hall on Common Road in Chorleywood. Doors and bar open at 7.30pm and the film starts at 8pm.
The Breadwinner
Based on the best selling novel by Deborah Ellis, The Breadwinner was nominated for “Best Animated Feature Film” at the 2018 Academy Awards.
Set in Afghanistan in 2001, The Breadwinner is the story of an 11 year old girl who is growing up under the shadow of the Talban. Sadly, her father is wrongfully arrested. She decides to cut off her hair and dress as a boy so that she can support her family…
A rare animated film without a shred of sentimentality but bucket-loads of heart and soul
