Yesterday
A new year, a new decade and another new film from Chorleywood Film Club! This month’screening is Yesterday (Certificate 12, 112 mins).
This is a fun and feelgood film from Working Title, written by Richard Curtis, of Notting Hill and Four Weddings and a Funeral fame, and directed by Danny Boyle. The main character, Jack Malik, is a struggling songwriter who after a mysterious blackout, is the only person on earth who remembers the Beatles!
And whilst passing off their songs as his own, he also risks losing his girlfriend Ellie who has supported him through thick and thin. He has to choose what is most important…
This romantic, music-rich comedy stars Himesh Patel, Lily James, Kate McKinnon, Sanjeev Bhaskar, Meera Syal and Ed Sheeran.
Showing on Friday 17th January at The War Memorial Hall on Common Road in Chorleywood. The doors and bar will open at 7.30 pm and the screening starts at 8 pm.
“A glowing tribute to The Beatles and their music, this is both a toe-tapping pleasure to watch and a smart, occasionally scathing look at how we get things wrong.”
– Helen O’Hara, Empire Magazine
